1950’s girls 2-piece skirt set brown navy green & yellow plaid

$39.00

Late 1950’s to early 1960’s 2-piece girls skirt set in a lovely plaid in dark tones of brown, navy green and yellow. These colors are unique and so beautiful together. The top is sleeveless with a boat neckline and a kind of boxy cut. It has two pearly white buttons at the top of little triangle cut outs at the bottom. I've shown it worn alone but at this time there was usually a blouse or turtleneck worn under this type of top. It looks great either way. The skirt is a classic design with deep box pleats around the waistline creating beautiful fullness. It has a yellow button at the top of the metal zipper side closure. I know kids are very sensitive to itchy fabric so I'm happy to report this fabric is cotton with a very soft hand. Just a beautiful example of late 50s children's fashion.

There are no tags in this dress set, and it was very likely handmade. I bought it from the original owner. She lives up the street and contacted me when she started clearing her parents estate in Malad, Idaho. She had many of the clothing pieces that she and her sister wore in the 50s and 60s. This short owner history helps account for the amazing condition of this skirt set. No holes, stains, or odors. Presents like new!

Size is a modern children's size 10 or a youth large. I've shown it here on my daughter Millie who is currently 10 years old and pretty average size. For best fit, compare the measurements of this garment to one that fits your child well, or you could take your childs measurements and ad an inch or two. The measurements are as follows:

Pit to pit - 34" (but typically worn loose or layered)
Bottom hem - 32"
