1970's floral stripe print maxi dress with gorgeous sheer overlay with appliqué flowers

$75.00

1970's maxi dress with the most incredible sheer overlay that has bit and small flowers in little striped vignettes of varying sizes. So colorful and cool. The flower tiers are lined with pink creating such a feminine gorgeous design. Wide flower waistband and the top has super dimensional white lace with pink appliqué flowers up the middle and around the stand up neckline. The sleeves also really put on a show, sheer with a big puff that comes in tight 1/3 of the way down then they are more fitted sheer to the wrist. It's almost like an exaggerated bishop sleeve, so interesting, I love it! It is fully lined and I believe the fabric is a really nice sheer synthetic. Closure is a metal back zipper with hook and eyes at the top to keep that mockneck in line. Classic 70s silhouette with a large ruffle panel at the bottom which gives a nod to the prairie hippy vibes of this time. Just a beautiful dress and an excellent example of full on 70s fashion.

This dress was not handmade as there is a care tag in the neckline, but I did not find a brand tag. There is an ILGWU union tag next to the zipper as well as a lot tag. Clearly this is a very well made high fashion garment of the time, amazing quality and style. Absolutely perfect condition. The loop on the hook and eye was loose so I've added another and tacked down the lace at the back neckline opening where it had just barely started coming out so there is just nothing to report, no holes, stains, or odors, presents like new.

Size is a modern small or about a size 6 but please note it is pretty slim in the bust so maybe a 4 might work better depending on your bust measurement. My model is about a size 6 and it dipped on her but was a little tight. The measurements are as follows:

Bust - 33"
Waist - 27"
Hips - 37"
Length - 55"
Shoulder - 13.75"
Sleeve - 22"
