1950's fit and flare chiffon overlay red dress with attached draped back cape

1950s red fit & flare dress with a stunning chiffon overlay for a very polished and formal look. it's sleeveless with a boat neckline in front and the back is where things get really dramatic and cool. It has an attached cape draped across the back creating a beautiful shape. It has a scoop backline and a boat neckline in front. The bodice is fitted and the skirt is super full with the chiffon catching the breeze for amazing movement when worn. Closure is a metal zipper down the back with a hook and eye at the top and at the waist. The look is classic 50s - it could totally work in a formal setting but isn't super formal, it's just polished and pretty and perfect. 

There are no tags, but I would be surprised if it was handmade because working with this sheer chiffon is tricky. Condition is excellent. I did notice that the hem of the chiffon layer has some visible stitches that are kind of a cream color instead of a matching red - it isn't very noticeable but it is original. There are belt loops but no belt, however there are a variety of belts that would look great with this dress or it's darling without a belt. There was a touch of fraying of the sheer overlay near the waist on the zipper panel, which I stitched in place just to be extra sure it doesn't go anywhere. AS you can see it presents beautifully with years of wear to go.

Shoulder to waist - 15.25"

Waist to hem - 23.5"
