1940’s L’Aiglon shirtdress with white flowers in a gorgeous large scale print. This dress is so beautiful, The design of it looks more 1930s to me but the label is coming up as late 40s or even early 50s. The fabric is a nice lightweight cotton. There are molded plastic buttons on the bodice that are topped with an attached bow and closure is a metal side zipper. This dress form is a little wompy so it doesn’t present this dress as well as I would like but the silhouette is very 30s/40s with a bit of blouseyness to the top and a very flowy skirt. There are little pin tucked pleats in a double stitch on either side of the bodice above the waistband and then in a line below the waist band in front as well as on both shoulders under the shoulder yolk. Plus tiny pleats out of the waistband around the back.
This dress is in very good condition for the fabric and age. There were a few small holes in back that I patched and are very hard to see now but I have done my best to show them in photos. There’s also a spot on the bottom right side of the back where it looks a little stained and there’s one tiny spot on the back of the skirt both shown in photos and very hard to notice when worn. I just soaked and steamed the dress so it is washed and ready to wear and presents beautifully.
Size is a modern extra small or around a size 4. The measurements are as follows:
Bust - 38” (worn a little blousey)
Waist - 25”
Hips - 39”
Shoulder to waist - 15.5”
Waist to hem - 26”
