Late 1950's to early 1960's 2-piece skirt set in the most stunning deep turquoise with a lovely nautical design. The top has a sailor collar with black piping and a red tie in the middle. It also has covered buttons down the middle with a snap at the top and is fully lined. The cut of the top is cropped so it's a perfect fit with the skirt. The skirt has pleats all the way around with a side zipper and button at the waist. It has beautiful fullness and movement when worn. This set is so darling worn together but both pieces could easily be worn with other items as well.
There are no brand tags but it looks like one was in the skirt so I don't believe it was handmade. This skirt set is in excellent condition. The zipper of the skirt was a beautiful matching metal zipper but it was broken when I purchased this from the estate of a local gal named Ethel Lee. I purchased a matching modern zipper and had my tailor put it in as she is much better at zippers than I am and it functions perfectly now. No holes, stains or odors, as you can see it presents almost like new.
Size is a modern XS or around a size 4. I've shown it on my model Annie who is a 6 and it was very tight on her but she's young and bendy and was able to button it even though she has a 27" waist. Best fit is a 2-4. The measurements are as follows:
Top:
Bust - 38.5"
Bottom hem - 35"
Length - 17.25"
Shoulder - 15"
Sleeve - 18"
Skirt:
Waist - 24.5"
Hips - open
Length - 25.5"
