1950's zip front house dress made from a lovely sheer cotton print in shades of navy blue and black. The print makes kind of a wavy plaid pattern, it's so cool. There is distinctive quilted piping that goes around the sweetheart neckline, down the zipper panel and on the sleeve cuffs making a reverse point in the middle. The bodice is more fitted and the skirt is cut in 8 panels making a really darling a-line shape. There are belt loops but no belt, although any black belt would work perfectly or you could remove the belt loops if you would prefer to wear it without. Closure is that metal zipper going down the front to about 1/3 of the way down the skirt but the piping continues to the bottom so the zipper is hidden. I added a hook and eye at the very top of the zipper so the two sides don't bow at the bust.
There is not a brand tag in this dress but there is a lot tag indicating it was not handmade. The lot tag also says size 14 1/2 which of course is not accurate to modern sizing.
Condition is excellent. No holes, stains or odors, freshly washed and clean as can be. Presents beautifully with years of wear to go.
Size is a modern medium to large or about a size 8. The model shown is more like a 4/6 so it was big on her and on a larger person you would get a better idea of the proper shape. The measurements are as follows:
Bust - 38"
Waist - 30"
Hips - 41.5"
Shoulder to waist - 15.75"
Waist to hem - 25.25" (1.5" seam allowance)
Shoulder - 13.5"
