1960's novelty print swimsuit cover up or romper dress, blue green & white sailboat print

$41.00

1960's swimsuit cover up with a beautiful novelty print of little sailboats in bright white and green on a blue background. Unique and cool construction with a scoop neckline that has thick straps coming over the shoulders and they cross in back, going into belt loops at the back of the bodice and then you can tie them in front or back - both ways are shown. The front has a really darling a-line shape and it has an open back that dips low. Between the belt loops there is elastic so it creates a little shape to the skirt and is really flattering. I don't think you could wear this alone, but would be darling as a top worn with shorts or a cool skirt of some kind, although I believe it was intended as a swimsuit cover. The fabric is very soft and feels like a cotton/synthetic blend, but I'm not sure exactly what it is.

No tags in this item, and it might have been handmade, in fact there are signs that it was made by hand, but well made. Condition is excellent. The colors are very vibrant with no fade. the elastic has nice stretch, there are no stains or odors. I did discover a little rip at the back bottom hem, which I patched and sewed over with matching thread so it is super solid now. I'll show this in photos, but you really don't see it when worn. Presents just beautifully!

Size is one size fits most with the ties that go around. What's nice is that it can accommodate even larger sizes like L/XL with this open design, but would also be cute on a smaller frame. The model shown is a 4/6. The measurements are as follows:

Bust - 39" (but open in back)
Waist - 40"
Length - bodice without straps - 26"
