1970's colorful border print maxi dress, southwestern print with dramatic bishop sleeves

$74.00

1970's border print maxi dress that is SUCH a statement piece. It features a bright and colorful southwestern print on a yoke on the top of the bodice that is repeated in a dramatically beautiful border print at the bottom hem and at the bottom of the sleeves. The middle of the dress has white pinstripes. The neckline is split with a mandarin collar and two ties and there are pleats that come from the printed yoke all the way around at the bottom of it. The sleeves are bishop shaped with elastic at the cuff. The dress is not too tight on the bodice but it has a cinched waist and a super full ankle length skirt. The fabric is a lightweight easy to wear and care for 100% cotton. It even says 100% cotton in the selvage! Closure is a back zipper. I've added a hook and eye to the top as I think it makes the collar look a little cleaner.

There are no tags in this dress, and there are some clues that it may be handmade by a genius seamstress. The hem does not look factory made and if it was manufactured I think the zipper would be a little longer. It wasn't too hard for my model to get on and off, but the zipper wasn't long enough for me to get it on the dress form with its shoulders that won't move. Condition is excellent! The black is a deep inky dark black and the colors are very bright with no bleed. Really the only extra things this needed was to fix a few little spots where the hem was missing some thread and added the hook and eye. It presents just beautifully!
