1970's black maxi dress with long sleeves and a v-neckline. This dress has the most beautiful unique design with to long straps that start at the bottom of the neckline and crisscross around the bust to make a super flattering empire silhouette. The ties are long enough you could even wrap them around the back and then back around to tie in front at your true waist but knowing what I do about 70s fashion I think they were originally designed to be tied in back. Closure is a matching back zipper with a hook and eye at the top. This dress has really cool 70s minimalist vibes, a great vintage staple for any collectors closet.
There are a few tags in the dress, but they look to me like a lot tag and care tag which indicates it was not handmade, but there is not a brand tag present. Condition is excellent! But the restoration on this dress was very involved. I had to sew over pretty much every seam of this dress, I didn't notice when I purchased it that it had so many seam separations but it made me think the original thread was just weakened over time so I reinforced all the seams. It's now as solid as can be. I also discovered when I got home that the zipper was broken, so I replaced it with a very similar zipper. I also replaced the hook of the hook and eye. I gave it a long soak and it's super clean now. The only flaw that still exists is back right under arm area there were two super tiny holes which I patched from behind but the bottom hole has a tiny touch of discoloration around it which I treated with a fabric marker and you can't even tell it was ever there - shown in photos and in a place you don't see at all when worn. It presents beautifully and can accommodate a variety of sizes with the adjustable tie.
Size is a modern large to even extra large, but I've shown it unclamped on the form with the ties just tied tighter. This design can accommodate a variety of sizes. The measurements are as follows:
Bust - 44"
Empire waist - 37" but can be tied tighter
Hips - open (54)
Length - 55"
Shoulder - 16.5"
Sleeve - 22"
