1950’s fit & flare dress, pink with black geometric swirl pattern

$62.00

1950’s fit and flare dress in a crazy print of black geometric swirls dress in a muted dark pink background, the color is so beautiful! This dress has a classic 50s silhouette, and the neckline is very distinctive and cool. It looks like kind of spikes of fabric coming into the scoop neckline, but they are actually loops which make me think there might have been a tie at some point, but they look really intentional and cool just as they are. This dress is pretty much sleeveless with maybe a touch of a cap sleeve to it. I believe the fabric is a polished cotton, lightweight and beautiful movement when worn.

I found no tags in this dress, it could have been handmade, but if so very well made. It is freshly washed and in very good condition. The problem I encountered when I bought it is that the closure was a tiny like 3" zipper in the back middle of the dress, none of my models could get it on. I had a tailor try and put a zipper in the side, and that didn't end up going well, so there is a small repair on the left side at the waistline, it was expertly repaired and with the print its very hard to see. What ended up working was just replacing the back zipper with a longer modern zipper so now it's very easy to slip on and off, but the dress was a tight fit on my model even though it looked darling on her, and you can a little bit see the zipper in back as it is a lighter pink than the color of the dress. I don't find it too distracting and it functions perfectly, but because of the small flaw and the replaced zipper I am asking what I paid despite paying two tailors, and a model, which is just the way resale goes sometimes. I think the dress still presents beautifully and it has been expertly repaired so it is ready for a long life in its next home.

Size is a modern XS or a 2-4. It was darling on my size 4 model, the measurements are as follows:

Bust - 36"
Waist - 25"
Hips - open
Shoulder to waist - 16.5"
Waist to hem - 26"
