1950's bold plaid wiggle dress in high contrast red, grey, and cream. Made from a soft winter weight wool with an absolutely stunning design and classic silhouette. The neckline of this dress has a substantial collar that goes around the back then ties at the bottom front in a pretty shape. It has a 3/4 dolman sleeve and princess darts in front and back flatter a very hourglass shape. My favorite feature of this dress in in the back where starburst pleats come from the middle back creating a gorgeous blouson back accented with a pointed tab across the back waist that has red buttons on either side. A very polished 50s design. Closure is a red metal side zipper and skirt is fully lined for comfort and ease of movement.
No tags and the woman whose estate this came from was a talented seamstress so it is possible it was expertly handmade. From the estate of local woman Pricilla Haslam who had amazing taste with a lot of plaids in her personal collection. Condition is excellent. Soaked and steamed with no holes, stains or odors. Presents like new with no flaws to report.
Size is a modern small or about a size 4. The measurements are as follows:
Bust - 38" (bust is worn a bit looser)
Waist - 26.5"
