1950's navy blue fit and flare dress with the most classic design. Fitted bodice and short sleeves that have pointed cuffs. The neckline is collared with 3 big buttons on a pointed button tab plus a little button under the collar to keep everything in it's proper place. Metal side zipper as well as those functional buttons to get in and out. The back of the dress is magical with a big box pleat in the middle and two button tabs on top and bottom, signature 50s and so polished. The skirt of this dress is super full with deep pleating and beautiful movement when worn. The fabric is an easy to wear and care for 100% cotton.
No tags but I don't believe it was handmade. This dress had a lengthy restoration but now it is near perfect! It has been washed and is clean as can be. One of the darts in back had a hole at the top so we whip stitched it with matching thread and it's super solid now. There are little slits on either side of the skirt and over one of them was one of these pointed button tabs - I'm sure both had them at some point, but I decided to take that one off and add it to the bottom of the box pleat in back. I've fixed a number of small seam separations and as you can see it presents almost like new now!
Size is a modern S or about a modern 6. The measurements are as follows:
