1950's grey wool pencil skirt with asymmetrical pockets

$41.00

Early 1950's heathered grey wool skirt with a timeless pencil skirt silhouette and the most gorgeous little details that make it truly special. This skirt is very figure flattering and features an asymmetrical design with two pockets on the right side. A tiny diagonal pocket and under that a pocket created by the this panel of the skirt that is cut in a rounded shape at the top and hand stitched starting with a pointed arrow at the top that points to the center then it stops with another stitched point about 6" from the bottom creating a little kick pleat. It is SO COOL and little details like this are what make vintage clothing so exciting to me. There are two loops in the front and four in back at the waistline. The closure is a metal side zipper and a hook and eye and a point where the waistband overlaps to close. That cool hand stitching detail is also down the zipper panel. Just gorgeous classic vintage design and the perfect addition to any vintage wardrobe.

Brand tag says "Tailored by Evan Picone New York" and also tells us this lovely gray wool fabric is imported. There is another tag in back but it is illegible. The back of the skirt is lined about 2/3 of the way down and it is lined in front under the pocket. The fabric is super soft on skin though and a nice weight. Condition is excellent, but after it was shot on the model I noticed a small hole and a few weak points in back. I patched the hole and tried to take a photo, but you truly cannot see it at all with the heathered fabric and because is is so small. On the back right side there weren't holes, but a little area where the fabric was weakened after washing, maybe some moth activity from the long ago past. It has been soaked, steamed and repaired now and is super solid with zero evidence of any moths for many decades. As you can see it presents beautifully and has many years of wear to go.

Size is a modern XS to S - my model is a smaller size 6 and it fit her well as you can see. I think the measurements would fit a modern 4 to a smaller 6.

Waist - 24.5"
Hips - 37.25"
Length - 27.75"
