1950's 2-piece skirt suit or skirt set in a lovely wool blend that has tiny black plaid on a white background but looks grey from further away. This suit has a textured black trim with a bow at the collar and another bow at the back bottom. The top has a round collar that has a button right through it and is so cute with the bow between that and the next button. It is beautifully constructed with gussets under the arms and a bracelet length sleeve. The top has large swirly pearlized white plastic buttons down the front and a bit more boxy shape. Fully lined and the bow in back is made from the same black and white fabric and it is just such a darling little detail. My favorite feature is a reverse seam triangle that starts at the bow and goes up the back, so cool! The skirt is a longer length - hits a bit below the knee. It has a flattering a-line shape with a kick pleat in back for easy movement. It has no lining, but lovely fabric with a very soft hand. Side button and metal zipper closure.
I discovered no tags in this skirt set, but the construction is so impressive that I would be surprised if it was handmade though it is possible. Condition is amazing, no holes, stains, or odors, freshly soaked and steamed, ready to wear. I decided to move the button on the skirt over as much as I could just to make it a little more wearable. It is quite small. Presents like a dream!
Size is a modern XS or about a size 0 to 2. The skirt did not quite button on the model shown so I used a safety pin. But as I mentioned, I did move the button over to try and get as much waist as possible from this amazing set. The measurements are as follows:
Top:
Bust - 36"
Bottom hem - 35"
Length - 20.25"
Shoulder - 14.5" approximately - hard to know with no shoulder seam
Skirt:
Waist - 23.5-24" max
Hips - 36"
Length - 28.5" with almost 2" seam allowance
