1940’s bright white waffle cotton fit and flare dress. This is the most stunning dress made from a lovely textured waffle cotton with eyelet lace trim on the v-neckline, sleeve cuffs and hem. The most interesting detail is the beautiful kind of soutache embroidery around the waist with little cut outs. Closure is a metal side zipper.
No tags and it could have been handmade but if so quite expertly. This item was purchased at a local estate here in northern Utah along with a number of items ranging from the 30s to the 60s. It could be early 50s but based on the other items in the chest where I found it I think it is older. I gave it two soaks and treated some stains very successfully. There is still a very faint stain on the bottom left side at the hem - not at all noticeable when worn. Condition is now excellent. All seam separations fixed and clean and bright.
Size is a modern XS or around a size 2-4. The measurements are as follows:
Bust - 34-35"
Waist - 25"
Hips - open
Shoulder to waist - 15"
Waist to hem - 26.25"
